James Toye

With over 25 years of experience in Airline Operations, James Toye's current role as the Head of Line Operations at Cathay Pacific Airways enables him to work with a dedicated team overseeing the global flight network. Line operations are the focal point of many internal and external airline functions while coordinating flight operations, regulatory approvals, and daily ops oversight.

Striving for operational excellence, James led the flight operations digital transformation journey over the last five years, achieving award-winning in-house bespoke digital solutions. With a wide field of view, the transformation extended beyond the flight deck, took a blank-sheet approach to many legacy systems and practices, and introduced many industry-first solutions.

With a firm belief in giving back to the industry, James' is actively involved in consultation groups, including a member of the IATA Operations Safety Audit Oversight committee, Flight and Dispatch Technical Group and an active Lead IOSA auditor/evaluator. "Holding management, auditing and consultation roles, in addition to being an active check Captain on the Boeing 777, places me in a very fortunate position to see our amazing industry through many different lenses".

In addition to holding an aviation degree and attempting to stop the "grey matter from getting greyer", James is currently finalising a Master's in Cyber Security, a field he firmly believes will play a very significant role in the future of airlines and aviation.
